In a desperate attempt to promote her latest project, “RebelHeart,” one of pop music’s biggest names, Madonna, defamed iconic images of Black icons Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela.
Unfortunately for Madonna, her little publicity stunt backfired when social media users blasted her for disrespecting two of Black America’s biggest staples.
Now, the “Like A Prayer” recording artist is coming forward, defending the photo-shopped images she posted on Instagram, claiming that she never intended to insult anyone.
“This is neither a crime or an insult or racist,” she wrote on Facebook. “I’m saying they are Rebel Hearts too.”
Despite the backlash from posting the images, Madonna continued to promote her album by posting several more images of other icons like Princess Diana, Basquiat, Bob Marley and others she considers to be “Rebel Hearts.”
