Alpha Kappa Alpha suspends ‘Sorority Sisters’ cast member

April-McRae

The show “Sorority Sisters” on VH1 has been the subject of wide controversy. Because of the over-the-top demeanor of the cast who are members of prominent Black Greek letter organizations, there have been calls to boycott the show and press for removal from the airwaves. Now at least one sorority has taken action against a member of the cast.

The national website for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) has listed cast member April R. McRae as suspended from the Sorority. The suspension start date is listed as 12/26/2014 and will end on 07/15/2016. McRae is no longer allowed to wear sorority paraphernalia or attend official sorority events during this time period.
