Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has returned to his Arizona home with his wife Lonnie, her sister and other caregivers.
As previously reported, on Dec. 20, the 72-year-old was admitted to an undisclosed medical facility where he was diagnosed with a “mild case” of pneumonia.
“Muhammad Ali was released from the hospital last night,” a family spokesperson said on Wednesday. “After further observation and testing, doctors determined that Ali was suffering from a severe urinary tract infection, not pneumonia as originally diagnosed. The boxing legend has fully recovered and is now at his home.
“Ali looks forward to celebrating his upcoming 73rd birthday on Jan. 17 with his family and friends. The Ali family greatly appreciates the outpouring of support and continued well wishes. They also want to thank the team of doctors and nurses for their exceptional care.”
Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1984, he was 42 years old.
