A teenager in Rockdale County, Georgia, abused and held his mother captive in order to steal her guns. According to a report by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Joseph Coddington, 17, broke into his own home by climbing through a window. Once inside, he opened the door for two of his friends.
Coddington attacked his mother, grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the room. He yelled at her and told her to open the safe so that he could retrieve her guns. His mother refused, and he tied her to a bed.
While his mother was restrained, Coddington and his friends attempted to break the safety box by using a hammer, crowbar and drill. However, they were unsuccessful. Coddington and his his friends eventually left the home and police later found his mother tied to the bed.
Coddington and a 17-year-old male suspect were arrested hours later. A 14-year-old female was also arrested in connection with the crime.
