Chrissy Teigen is a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue veteran, having won Rookie of the Year in 2010 and appearing on the cover in 2014. Rolling out caught up with Teigen last night at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2015 celebration at Marquee in New York City.
Teigen was very relaxed on the red carpet, which probably comes with appearing in the issue for a sixth straight year. “I feel very good. I’m usually pretty anxious. This year I’m just kind of gliding through. And look I have pants on, I’m old school now,” she said.
Sports Illustrated also used their first ever plus size model in the swimsuit issue, and Teigen talked about it. “Sports Illustrated has always recognized people of all shapes and sizes. For instance, I have zero curves, so I’m the complete opposite side of the spectrum. But I mean they’ve always appreciated a curvy woman and voluptuousness and that’s what I’ve always loved about them,” Teigen said.
Teigen reminisced about her first meeting with Sports Illustrated. “The first time I ever met with them I never even had to get in a swimsuit. They chose me without me getting into a swimsuit.” What does it take to get inside of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, besides having an amazing body? “It’s about personality and charisma, and that’s why I love them.”
Tiegen and her husband, John Legend, joined Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at a Waffle House recently, and Tiegen discussed the couple and hanging out with them. “It’s fun, they’re great, they’re wonderful. They’re honestly so much fun. I think that people have crazy perspectives of them, and they don’t understand it exactly,” she said.
Asked if she has ever been offended by Yeezy, Tiegen responded, “No, never. No, Kanye’s awesome, honestly. Kim’s awesome. They’re the sweetest people. I think people have this warped, weird perspective all the time, and I hate that. I hate that people have that.”
