‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ slammed as domestic violence

An Australian talk-show host slammed Fifty Shades of Grey, one day prior to its anticipated release. While the film’s stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have been parading their sexiness around the globe to promote their romance flick, not everyone is on board with the release of the film adaptation of E.L. James’ popular book trilogy.

Lisa Wilkinson, a co-host of Australia’s Channel 9 “Today” show made a bold claim when she described the film as “the worst movie I’ve ever seen.”

“Dakota Johnson is the one-dimensional, lip-biting (could someone please get that girl a chapstick!) totally pathetic Anastasia Steele,” she shared, while noting that Dornan’s Christian Grey “never seems to work” and is “an emotionally crippled narcissist no one could love.”

Wilkinson continued, “Fifty Shades of Grey is more appalling than appealing. It’s domestic violence dressed up as erotica … and if there’s one thing this movie is not, it’s erotic.”

Although, we haven’t met one critic who agrees with Wilkinson’s sentiments, she may have a point. Does Fifty Shades of Grey push the boundaries of intimacy between and man and a woman or is it taking disturbing shots at women whose stance is against being subordinate to a man in any aspect of life?
