Kardashians ink 9-figure mega deal

Keeping-Up-With-The-Kardashians-900-600

Looks like we’re stuck with the Kardashians for a few more years. According to E!, momager Kris Jenner has officially signed a $100 million contract with the network for four more seasons of the hit reality show.

According to Page Six, the deal negotiated for Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian and their younger half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, includes four more seasons of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” a slew of possible spin-off series and a YouTube channel. Not included in the deal was the family’s patriarch, Bruce Jenner, as the former Olympian has decided to exit the reality show.

But that doesn’t mean you’ve seen the last of him. As previously reported, Jenner will have his own show on the network that will center around his transition from male to female. Also left out of negotiations was Kim’s husband, Kanye West, though he will continue to make cameos.

So much for rumors that the show’s ratings were plummeting. In October 2013, reports claimed that the reality series had reached an all-time low, raking in only 1.7 million viewers. While E! was rumored to be considering their early out option, the Kardashians new string of drama, including Kylie’s alleged plastic surgery, relationship with rapper Tyga and Bruce Jenner’s transition, clearly created more room for the network to exploit America’s most watched family.

If the signing of this new deal says anything about our society, it’s that we’d rather watch a train wreck than shine light on the next generation of truly talented small screen stars.
