There was just no stopping Furious 7.
Not only did the latest movie in the fast-paced franchise capture the biggest opening weekend ever for the month of April, but with $384 million worldwide including $143 million in the United States alone, the action adventure chalked up the ninth biggest opening weekend of all time.
More than likely, Furious 7 will hold on to the top spot for at least another week as its closest competitor, the animated Disney family movie, Home, came in a very distant second with its draw of $27 million. Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart’s buddy farce, Get Hard, inched its way closer to the $60 million mark by pulling in an additional $12.9 million. Cinderella landed in the fourth position with $10.2 million. And The Divergent Series: Insurgent pushed passed the $100 million threshold with $10 million.
