A night out in New York turned violent for an NBA player and two other players were arrested. According to New York Daily News, Indiana Pacers player Chris Copeland, 31, got into an argument with Shezoy Bleary, 22, at the 1 Oak club in New York.
Bleary attacked Copeland and stabbed him in the abdomen. He also attacked Copeland’s wife, Katrine Saltara, and slashed her arm and leg. Another woman, Catherine Somani, 53, was also stabbed during the altercation.
When police attempted to clear the crime scene, Atlanta Hawks players Thebo Sefolosha and Pero Antic refused to leave. Sefolosha reportedly charged at an officer and was arrested. During his arrest, Antic grabbed a police officer. Both players were sent to jail and charged with disorderly conduct.
The Atlanta Hawks flew to New York after defeating the Phoenix Suns in Atlanta hours prior to the melee. The Hawks will play the Brooklyn Nets tonight and the Pacers will play the New York Knicks.
The Hawks, Pacers or NBA have yet to announce if there will be further punishment for the players involved.
Copeland and his wife are currently in stable condition.
