Usually when we see D.L. Hughley on-screen, he’s making us laugh with his hilarious comedy. But recently the veteran comedian pulled at our heart strings instead when he appeared on OWN’s “Where Are They Now” and broke down while discussing his son’s medical condition.

In the video clip, Hughley talked about his 26-year-old son, Kyle, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

Hughley explained that, like many people with Asperger’s, his son stuck to a rigid daily routine due to his disorder. But when Hughley was in need of gas for his car one day, his son shocked him by offering to break his routine to get the gas for him.

“He said, ‘Daddy, I’ll do it.’ I’m a nervous wreck. So, he comes back in, and he gives me the receipt and the keys …,” said Hughley as his voice trailed off and he broke down in tears.

“And I could not stop crying, because he did something he was afraid to do. I just didn’t believe he could do it. He did it. I held him, and I said, ‘You’re gonna be all right,’ And I think sometimes I don’t know for sure. But he’s gonna be fine,” Hughley said.

It’s definitely touching to see Hughley share such a powerful moment in his life, as well as his ever-growing love and pride for his son.

But that’s not all that Hughley shared in his interview. Read what he had to say about his marriage after the cut.

Hater…smdh.. some males with $$ would have left the child in a facility. Focus on the main reason for his breakdown. YES, he was wrong for cheating on his wife, pray that he has learned from his mistakes n is treating her like a beautiful Queen

My best friend worked in such a facility for 8 years and there were rich families who drop their kids off there and tell them to call them when they’ve died and never visit them. There are also facilities that abuse these people. He is not perfect and has made mistakes. But that does not undercut the love a father that he feels for his child.

So no one ever told him about the 10 commandments? You mean he NEVER heard of ,Adultery? even without Bible education, it doesn’t take a Wiz to see the bad results that come from Infidelity (STDs, children outside of the marriage, broken homes, divorce, time to spend with children is lost to some worthless side-piece, etc). All too late many men find out that being a REAL MAN means keeping their marriage vows, their word should be their bond! Marriage is automatically a sexually exclusive contract! Real men strive to fight selfish tendencies and develop character strengths like loyalty and self-control. They don’t see womanizing and hurting their wives (& children) as ‘macho’. Cheaters are Drama-Queens! Same thing goes for what a REAL WOMAN would do.
