Mariah Carey is back … in all her glory. Last night the 45-year-old diva kicked off her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace by poking a little fun at her reputation — and then proving beyond any doubt that her pipes are still intact.
“Are you feeling lucky tonight? I’m about to take you on a journey from No. 1 to ‘Infinity.’ I’m so happy to be here with you tonight,” Carey declared as she hit the stage.
The hour and 45 minute show was all any fan could want, spanning her chart toppers in chronological order, beginning with “Vision of Love,” her first No. 1 hit from 1990. She also had six glamorous costume changes and one big hair change, which were just as spectacular as her high notes.
“I’m doing my best to be a diva this evening,” Carey joked, as she blew through all 18 of her No. 1 hits, including her new song, “Infinity,” in a show that was every bit nostalgic as it was current.
Luckily for fans who missed opening night, Carey’s “#1 to Infinity” show runs through July at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
