A man killed his son because the boy had trouble potty training. According to a report by Click 2 Houston, Anthony Powell, 24, picked up his 3-year-old son from the child’s mother’s home to spend more time with him.
But the child urinated on himself several times during his visit with his father. Powell became infuriated every time his son urinated on himself and hit him with a belt and his hand. On one occasion, Powell grabbed his son aggressively and hit him in the head causing the boy to fall hard on the restroom floor.
Powell’s sister, Prosha Land, was at the home and witnessed the beatings. When she attempted to pick the child up, Powell told her that the boy wanted to go to sleep. The child soon began gasping for air and had difficulty breathing.
He was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered that he had swelling of the brain and fractures. The boy died later that evening.
Powell was arrested and charged with capital murder of a child under 6-years-old. Land was also arrested for not stopping the attack. She was charged with injury to a child by omission.
