A few years ago, Lena Weathers Johnson sat in a courtroom and watched as a young man who had only been in Atlanta for three months was convicted and sentenced to 25 years on an admission he gave to the police (on the advice of his peers) without first consulting an attorney.

She felt completely helpless as she sat in disbelief as the verdict was read. “My stomach churned as I watched his mother sob when they led him out, hands and feet shackled,” Johnson stated.

From this experience Turning Point was born.  A nonprofit dedicated to awareness and prevention. Turning Point provides youth programming that uplifts, educates and inspires.

On Saturday, June 6, the Saving Our Sons event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the JVC Event Center, 4515 Stone Mountain Highway, Lilburn, Georgia, 30047. Come out and join her, expert criminal defense attorney Lawrence Lewis and a host of caring professionals for a morning of straight talk. Learn about new practices that use social media to get convictions…even when there is no connection between the charge and the postings.  If you have a child between the ages of 11-20, or work with youth, you cannot miss this event.

The event is free, but because space is limited, you must register and receive tickets in order to attend. Group tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. To register, call Smart Talk Seminars at 770-934-6241.
