Tom Hanks’ son, Chet Haze, became a lightning rod of controversy this week when the aspiring hip-hop artist went on social media and defended his use of the N-word. Since then, Chet has received a mountain of hate messages and jokes about his disrespectful stance and now one of Chet’s rapper friends is finally checking the White celeb for using the N-word.
According to TMZ, rapper Scrilla King has been friends with Chet for six years, the two have even collaborated on music together. Although Chet has claimed that saying the N-word among his friends is OK, Scrilla thinks otherwise and told TMZ that he ended his friendship with Chet over his use of the word.
Scrilla explains that, despite Chet’s claims, his use of the N-word makes his Black friends uncomfortable. “It’s disrespectful. He thinks it’s a joke,” Scrilla said.
Scrilla then said that Chet has deluded himself into thinking he can be Black.
He adds, “He wakes up thinking he can be Black today and know what we go through. He doesn’t. I wake up Black every day, he does not,” Scrilla said.
Scrilla now thinks that Chet owes the entire Black community an apology for using the N-word so carelessly.
We absolutely agree with Scrilla, but he’s not the only rapper who’s commented on Chet. See what Jermaine Dupri had to say about Chet after the cut.
