The 2015 Texas Black Expo kicks off June 11 with a professional networking and recruiting reception at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Americas Hotel. This is an opportunity to engage with the top business professionals and organizations in Texas. The TBE has partnered with The National Black MBA Association and National Black Engineers and other notable organizations for this event.
On Friday, June 12, the Business Empowerment Series: Coffee & Conversation, presented by the Houston Area Urban League, Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce and Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce will feature keynote speaker Zawadi Bryant, of Nightlight Pediatrics and Lewis Group’s Sherman Lewis. The Building Better Lives Corporate Luncheon at noon will feature Kirbyjon Caldwell, minority owner of the Houston Texans, and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro.
The House of Blues Houston will be the place for “Black Friday,” a heart-pounding party to kick off the weekend with Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy, the morning radio hosts of “The Breakfast Club.”
On Saturday, Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy will host the Building a Career in Entertainment session to enlighten and discuss the industry dos and don’ts for aspiring artist, actors and entertainers, at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
On Saturday the trade show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center. This free event will feature empowerment seminars, products, fashion and hair shows, live stage demos and many more activities.
Saturday’s activities will include Diva Dialogue with national radio host Angela Yee, celebrity gossip Necole Bitchie and other female celebrity panelists engaging in discussion about the hottest topics impacting today’s modern women. The evening will close with an old-school R&B concert featuring the vocal stylings of Keith Sweat and Chante Moore, at Discovery Green.
On Sunday, the trade show continues with a step show competition between Greek and non-Greek step teams from across Texas for a chance to win $1,000 prize. Also, the Beauty Under One Roof Hair Show, an exotic hair show and epic barber battle between Texas’ top stylists, will showcase cutting-edge hairstyles and razor sharp lineups that are sure to inspire new looks.
The Cultural Arts showcase will display interpretive dance, paintings and more from talented artists.
