“Prior to us getting married, I knew I shouldn’t have done it, I knew I shouldn’t have went through with it. And I talked to Glory about it, but, you know, sometimes you feel pressured into things and I went along with it & I knew I shouldn’t have. It was a huge mistake. I just knew it was a mistake now. And now, I’m filing for annulment,” said Griner.
She continued, “With everything going on, counseling and classes, it just wasn’t the right way to start off our marriage. It wasn’t the right way to start off the unity like that. I wanted to take the time to get myself right.”
Although Johnson claimed the annulment came out of the blue, Griner maintains that she and Johnson agreed they should end the marriage before she made the announcement.
“We both agreed to it — this past Wednesday actually — to get an annulment. It’s in writing and via text message as well…so….,” Griner explained.
Although Griner maintained her composure throughout the interview, she broke down in tears after being asked to describe these last ten months and what she plans to do now.
“Submerge myself in basketball. Just submerge myself in basketball, honestly,” Griner said with tears in her eyes as she spoke about the six games she has left this season after her seven-game suspension.
We imagine this is a tough time for both women and our condolences got out to them both.
