Pharrell Williams is a pop culture genius; he’s Dope
Over the course of 20 years, it’s not much artist, producer, and writer Pharrell Williams hasn’t taken on and taken over. Recently adding CFDA Fashion Icon of 2015 to his resume, Pharrell is the epitome of success. Let’s not forget to add, he’s an 11-time Grammy Award winner, the face of Chanel’s newest fashion campaign, an executive producer for his film Dope, premiering this week, a judge and coach on NBC’s hit show “The Voice;” he owns his own media and nonprofit company, debuted yet another fashion line — including a collaboration with adidas this year, and not to mention he’s a father and husband!
Seems like a lot, right? Oh, but there’s much more than what meets the eye. Pharrell is one of a kind. A visionary. In every endeavor he takes on, at the root of it all he considers himself an artist first; to which he attributes his success. Pharrell’s constantly venturing out and changing the face of what was. Part of which has made him a mogul.
As CFDA put it best, “he’s influencing and impacting popular culture on an international stage.” That he is. Not only did Pharrell Williams help revolutionize the pop era in the late ’90s, he’s still doing it now. Hear something on the radio or television — it’s a good chance Pharrell had something to do with it. So what can we learned from this charismatic genius? The list is endless, but we’ve narrowed it down to seven lessons. –jamie coleman
