Fashion designer Christian Audigier, best known for his apparel lines Ed Hardy and Von Dutch, was well-known among celebrities. Now, after his death resulting from his battle with bone marrow cancer, his famous friends are expressing grief all over social media.
Singer Christina Milian posted two pictures of herself with the designer and a lengthy and heartfelt message reminiscing on her experience with Audigier.
“Today we lost a pioneer in the fashion world who showed us how to break rules, dream big, reinvent yourself and live life to the fullest!” she wrote on her Facebook page. We made the first pair of jeans with the Von Dutch patch on the back… Hence becoming the “Christina” Jeans & becoming one of his main staples of branding the line.”
Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons shared the news of Audigier’s death on his Facebook page and wrote, “So sad, rest in peace.”
Other celebrities who paid their respects to the innovator on their pages include actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, comedian Nick Kroll, designer Cameron Silver, and model Damir Jovanovic.
Kroll shared a picture of him and his friends in a golf cart with Audigier.
“Christian hosted us at his compound and drove us around is in his golf cart hummer, and had a room wallpapered entirely in michael Jackson magazine covers …” he wrote. “It was one of the weirdest, most exciting days in my lil show biz career.”
