Brand executive and innovator for Miller Lite, Steve Canal, brought the popular business competition Tap the Future to Detroit on Thursday, July 9, 2015. Tap the Future is a live pitch business competition that allows participants a chance to win $20,000 and a shot for one of six finalists to win $200,000 toward the growth of their business ideas and products. Canal created the Tap the Future campaign with the mission to empower passion in entrepreneurs by providing funding and resources via live pitch opportunities and access to business moguls such as “The Shark” Daymond John and lifestyle specialist and senior VP of Revolt TV Kenny Burns.

Why is Miller sponsoring Tap the Future?

Miller is sponsoring Tap the Future because they built the program from the ground up. Miller started brewing their beers over four decades ago and has since grown their beer to the number four beer in the entire country. We are passionate about small businesses. Like Kenny Burns said, “Without small business, there is no America.”

Why did Detroit make the list for the competition?

We felt like coming to “the D” was a great opportunity for pitchers and entrepreneurs. When you think of the relationship that Miller has with cities like Detroit, it just made sense and I think it was a great choice given Detroit’s history and entrepreneurial spirit.
Why is attending a live pitch important before applying to Tap the Future?
Attending a live pitch event like Tap the Future is one of the best opportunities to learn tools for furthering your business ideas. The feedback that others receive is invaluable and applicable to most aspiring and budding entrepreneurs.

Canal and Miller Lite plan to continue their work and encourages more participation and applicants for next year. For more information or details on how apply to win seed money for your business, visit www.mltapthefuture.com.
