Hennessy has teamed up with world-renown artist Ryan McGinness to design the bottle for Hennessy V.S Limited Edition. A launching party was held Friday night that included a DJ set by Hudson Mohawke and an electrifying performance by rapper 2 Chainz.
The event was held in New York’s Meatpacking District and showcased McGinness’ contemporary artwork displayed on a motion tracking tunnel. Guests were served specialty cocktails, such as Hennessy V.S Infinity and Hennessy V.S Ginger Fizz.
The 750-ml bottle’s art features vibrant and florescent colors in a curly ribbon design that glows under black light.
McGinness said his artwork shares similar elements with Hennessy Cognac. “My process of combining elements and compounds to form mixtures parallels Hennessy’s artful blending of eaux-de-vie to create Cognac. The shared approach to our crafts is part science and part art,” he said, according to News Channel 10.
Rodney Williams, executive vice president of Spirits, Moet Hennessy USA, agreed that the Hennessy brand is in line with McGinness’ creative talent: “Ryan McGinness’ work reflects a fresh, energetic use of multiple elements- from colors to icons-to create designs of enduring impact. We are thrilled to be partnering with Ryan McGinness during our 250th Anniversary year. This new Hennessy V.S Limited Edition bottle design embodies his passion and commitment to his craft, the same characteristics Hennessy has pursued since 1765.”
The 750-ml bottle is sold for $32, and the deluxe sets sold in commemorative boxes are $150.
