Nicki Minaj loves the kids. On Thursday, while en route to Camden, New Jersey, for a Pinkprint Tour stop, the rapper carved some time out of her busy schedule to visit kids at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, including Zion Harvey, the 8-year-old boy who recently became the first child to receive a double hand transplant.
In a series of photos shared via Instagram, Minaj is seen kneeling next to the boy in a wheelchair, with his hands bandaged as he’s still healing from the July operation. The 32-year-old recording artist also spent a little quality time with other children at the hospital, before urging her more than 30 million followers: “If you need something to do in your spare time, try this.”
The “Superbass” singer described her visit saying: “I left feeling so inspired by these incredibly strong, beautiful, dynamic children. Pray for them, you guys. They would’ve melted your heart.”
Little Zion Harvey first melted our hearts last month when doctor’s revealed the news of his operation. In July, the 8-year-old underwent the 11-hour procedure after losing his hands and feet to a life-threatening bacterial infection as a toddler. Since then, the Baltimore native has been spending the last several weeks going through hand therapy at an inpatient rehabilitation center at the hospital.
