Call Me King is an upcoming action-packed and unpredictable film that serves as a breath of fresh air in today’s movie industry that is saturated with unoriginality. Not only does it tell an exciting and intriguing story, but the cast is refreshingly diverse.
The film follows brothers and heirs Rhyis (Amin Joseph) and Khaul (Maurice Whitfield), who are members of a dethroned Haitian dictatorship. Now immigrants in the United States, the brothers are fighting to fix the mistakes that had been made by their father, Knight (Shaun Mixon). Rhyis, the oldest brother, plans to collect enough money and gain enough power in the U.S. so that he and Khaul can return to Haiti and regain their birth rite.
With Rhyis as the leader, the two form “The Strap Set,” a cut-throat team of four gun-runners. Armed with top-notch weapons fit for war, the crew assists the head of the Italian syndicate, Angelo Costa (Chris Mulkey) with keeping order, all the while aiming to reach Port-Au-Prince as victors.
Written and directed by R.L.Scott, Call Me King is receiving great reviews. Movie News Weekly called it “one of the best action films of the year,” and Punch Geeks describing it as “a must-see.” In addition to the leading characters, the film also stars Bei Ling, Bill Cobbs, Gabrielle Dennis, and more.
Call Me King will be playing at Movies ATL 14 at Camp Creek from Sept. 4 through Sept. 10.
