Idris Elba may not play James Bond anytime soon, but the British born actor still has a slew of upcoming projects on the horizon.

Up next for Elba is the Netflix original movie Beasts Of No Nation. The film tells the story of a young West African boy named Aqu (Abraham Atu), who’s forced into a group of mercenary fighters after his family is torn apart by a civil war. Elba will play a ruthless warlord known as “the Commandant,” who looks to mold Abu to be his protégé and a part of his army of cold-blooded killers.

Emmy award-winning director Cary Fukunaga (HBO’s True Detective, Sin Nombre) will direct the intense drama based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Uzodinma Iweala.

Beasts Of No Nation will debut on Netflix on October 16, as well as screen at both the Telluride and Toronto film festivals.
