Rapper and reality show personality Joe Budden is looking to put a rest to an incident last year that ended with him being charged with felony assault and robbery.
The incident allegedly began last Aug. when Budden was reportedly angered by pictures his ex-girlfriend, Audely Robles, began posting on Instagram featuring her and other guys. According to Robles, Budden then tracked her down at a Manhattan restaurant before forcibly removing her and taking her to his car where he is said to have taken her phone and hit her head on the dashboard of his vehicle before taking her to his New Jersey home.
After a warrant for his arrest was issued, Budden made light of the situation in a series of tweets that told his side of the story, before turning himself in to authorities.
Budden’s attorney, Nami Amiri, says the rapper is simply looking to put the incident behind him.
“Joe, at this point, is anxious to get this resolved,” Amiri says. “And by resolved, I mean dismissed.”
The rapper appeared in court this past Thursday (Sept. 3) to motion for charges to be dropped. In December, a judge ruled the case could go to a grand jury. Robles currently has a order of protection from Budden that was recently extended.
Budden is set to appear alongside girlfriend Kaylin Garcia on the upcoming season of “VH1’s Couple’s Therapy,” which premieres on Oct. 7, and release his forthcoming album, All Love Lost, on Oct. 9.
