A 15-year-old girl could face criminal charges for abusing a child with her toe. According to a report by WAFF 48, the incident occurred at a home in Gaffney, South Carolina where the homeowner was keeping a 7-month-old child while the baby’s parents worked.
While the child was in the home, a 15-year-old girl entered to visit with the homeowner’s daughter. At some point during her visit, the teenager stuck her toe into the baby’s mouth and posted the picture on the social media app, Snapchat. The photo eventually made its way to Facebook and the baby’s parents recognized that their child was the victim in the photo.
The parents immediately notified police and the officers opened an investigation. They are now looking to see if the caregiver violated any regulations in regards to operating a daycare inside of her home. The caregiver said she didn’t know the incident occurred and has since apologized to the family for the incident.
Because the alleged offender is underage, the case will be reviewed by a juvenile court that will decide if criminal charges should be filed.
