She’s got beauty… brains and… a voice?
Rolling Out cover girl Sanaa Lathan makes her musical debut alongside rapper Dej Loaf and it’s pretty “Emotional.” And while this may seem pretty left field as we’ve never heard Lathan sing before, according to super producer Detail, the track was inspired by her newly released thriller, The Perfect Guy.
“I was looking at the trailer and I said, ‘Wow. That’s an emotional n**ga.’ Everybody started laughing and Sanaa said, ‘Exactly.’” Detail tells Yahoo.
Soon after, Detail suggested that they turn the concept into a song, and well… here it is…
Detail’s credits include Beyonce’s Grammy winning single “Drunk In Love,” and “7/11.” He also produced tracks for Lil Wayne, Drake and Wiz Khalifa, to name a few. Rumor has it he and Lathan met through a mutual friend, French Montana.
Meanwhile, Lathan’s recently released blockbuster co-starring Morris Chestnut and Michael Ealy landed at #1 in the box office this weekend, raking in between $10.4M to $10.7M last night, reports Deadline. Not too shabby! Fans of Lathan’s “Emotional” single can also enjoy it by grabbing The Perfect Guy soundtrack.
