T.I. made headlines this week when he revealed to the world that he’d made the decision to back away from his famous protégé, Iggy Azalea, this year. Since then, fans have been talking nonstop about the two artists and now Iggy has finally spoken out about the distance between her and her mentor.
As previously reported, Tip talked about parting ways with Iggy during a recent interview on Hot 97, in which he explained that she and her team were causing too much drama and trouble in the public eye for his taste. However, he did explain that he understood that Iggy was under a lot of scrutiny from the public.
“In her defense, she had a lot thrown at her at one time,” Tip said. “Any human being anywhere gon’ have a hard time adjusting.”
He later added, “It’s very difficult to be the new kid and to be the butt of the jokes. Some stuff they [Iggy and her team] brought upon themselves. In some cases it kind of was just the easiest place to put some pent-up aggression.”
Although Tip claimed that he still played a part in her team, he explained that he hadn’t reached out to Iggy in some time.
After the interview aired, the Internet exploded with news about the rift between Tip and Iggy. However, Iggy soon hopped online and explained that she was surprised by the interview. See her tweets about Tip after the cut.
