T’Melle refuses to allow the accident that killed Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez and left her severely injured stop her from reaching super-stardom. The songstress has been grinding to make a name for herself, and she recently made a great impression Thursday at SOB’s in New York with a mesmerizing performance of her new single.
The Atlanta-based singer, songwriter and dancer treated a packed house and several industry notables to her sultry song, “Drop It Down,” which has been receiving play on Revolt TV.
Watching T’Melle move onstage, no one would ever guess that after a deadly car wreck, she was confined to a wheelchair and told she may never walk again. Lopez, her mentor and one-third of the supergroup TLC, died in the accident, and the loss was extremely hard on T’Melle. But she knew that once she recovered physically and emotionally, she would keep pursuing the path on which Lopez was guiding her.
“I never wanted to talk about it back then, because I never wanted it to be about, ‘That was the girl who was in the accident with Left Eye,’ or ‘The girl that is legally handicapped.’ I never wanted it to be about that,” she said in a recent interview with Revolt.
Now known as music’s “Bad Girl,” T’Melle is showing the world what an amazing talent she is. She’s already worked with Usher Raymond, Tricky Stewart, Bryan Cox, and Rodney Jenkins on constructing her solo career. The alluring artist has been making major moves, and she’s just getting started.
