There is nothing more exciting than a room full of powerful women. This was the case at Odyssey Media’s “In the Black” affair, which was held in Chicago on Sept. 24. The event was created to connect women business owners, entrepreneurs, and professional women in transition with tools and discussion they truly value.
The event was held in an exclusive club located in the Willis Tower overlooking the city of Chicago. Women were encouraged to come in their little black dresses and wear their most fabulous shoes. The attire represented their power, confidence, and the ability to transition from day to evening effortlessly.
The evening started with a networking hour complete with cocktails and food. Attendees were encouraged to connect with other women to share resources with the intention of building business communities. This was followed by a program, which featured Becky Davis and Michelle Harper.
Becky Davis, small business expert, coach, and author kicked off the event by speaking to attendees about the financial side of owning a business. She was followed by celebrity stylist Michelle Harper who spoke about the power of presentation and the value of the little black dress. Mikki Taylor, Essence editor-at-large, was a scheduled speaker but was unable to attend due to travel challenges.
The event was at capacity and attendees remained well after the program ended to network. Odyssey Media’s CEO Linda Spradley Dunn explains, “We strive to provide trusted spaces for women to connect, learn, and be inspired.”
