For months now, Caitlyn Jenner has been working to avoid charges of manslaughter involving a February traffic accident she was in that left one woman dead after Jenner’s car collided with hers. Now, after months of waiting, it’s finally been revealed that Jenner is in the clear in the case.
According to TMZ, the L.A. County D.A. has decided not to charge Jenner with vehicular manslaughter or any other crime regarding the deadly car crash.
As previously reported, the accident took place on Feb. 7, 2015, on the Malibu Pacific Coast Highway when Jenner’s Cadillac Escalade and four other cars were involved in a major pileup. Jenner’s truck ran at a high rate of speed into a Lexus, pushing the car of 69-year-old Kimberly Howe into oncoming traffic, killing her.
In August, it was reported that there was evidence to prove Jenner pumped her breaks several seconds before the collision, but the L.A. County D.A. still had the option to file manslaughter charges against Jenner for violating the speed law by not slowing down quickly enough.
However, according to TMZ, the D.A. has rejected the case, saying that although Jenner was delayed in pumping the brakes, her actions were not “unreasonable” based on all the facts.
“We believed from the start that a thorough and objective investigation would clear Caitlyn of any criminal wrongdoing,” said Jenner’s lawyer Blair Berk. “We are heartened the District Attorney has agreed that even a misdemeanor charge would not be appropriate.”
“A traffic accident, however devastating and heartbreaking when a life is lost, is not necessarily a criminal matter,” she added.
Well, this ordeal is finally over for Jenner but our condolences still go out to the family of the woman who lost her life.
