Fans of “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne“ will soon be able to catch the series on a regular basis again, thanks to BET.
The Viacom-owned network recently announced that it has bought all 254 episodes of the long-running series with intentions to immediately begin syndicating the show.
“I think it’s fantastic that BET will soon be airing the show,” says Demetria McKinney, who played Janine Payne on the series. “Hopefully. this will expose the series to an entirely different audience who may have not caught it during it’s initial run.”
“Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” ran for six seasons over a five-year period on TBS beginning in 2006. Initially given a ten-episode test run, the series ended up producing more episodes than any other sitcom with a predominantly black cast in the history of television. After “House of Payne”, “The Jeffersons” rank second with 253 episodes followed by “Family Matters” at 215, “The Cosby Show” at 202 and “Diff’rent Strokes” at 189.
BET will introduce “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” to the network with a 24-hour marathon beginning at noon on Nov. 1.
