Balmain for H&M sold out just hours after launching and customers were not happy.
After teasing the upcoming collection in May, Olivier Rousteing’s highly anticipated capsule collection landed in stores on Nov. 5 and on the same day, it sold out within hours. That’s right, just hours after hitting the shelves at H&M stores around the world and being made available for purchase online, the entire men’s and women’s lines vanished.
As expected, after waiting in line for hours in New York City and Atlanta, early fans of the designer collab were pretty peeved. A massive influx of enthusiastic online shoppers even caused H&M’s website to crash minutes after the collection went up for sale at 8 a.m. EST. Others noted that despite their desire to nab a coveted collection piece, they didn’t even bother.

And while many Balmain fans freaked out online, even more shoppers went cray, cray in stores. On top of camping outside certain H&M locations for days prior to the collection’s arrival, there were all-out stampedes. So naturally, there were strong feelings for both those lucky enough to score pieces and those who tried to get the clothes to no avail. Many of them vented on Twitter.
