With over 10 years in the game, music producer MoeZart is making his mark in the music industry. His latest production credit is for the song “Prisoner 1 & 2” featured in the upcoming Creed film starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone. Performed by rapper Lupe Fiasco, “Prisoner 1 & 2” is the second collaboration for the duo. He also produced “Deliver“ featured on Fiasco’s Tetsuo & Youth album, released last year.
Rolling out recently spoke with MoeZart about his creative process.
Do you most often actively seek inspiration or does it find you? Or is there a combination of the two?
It’s a combination of the two. For the most part, I use my life experiences for inspiration. From visual art to the joy and pain, I naturally include these emotions in my music. I also try to seek out other innovative artists and producers to help me stay motivated and competitive.
What led you to art in general and to your art form(s) in particular?
I’ll say it all started when my sister bought my first keyboard when I was around 8 years old. I started playing around with melodies and sounds.
In addition to mastering their art, what other skill sets do you recommend that artists develop if they want to be successful?
Perfect your craft. Work on your quality. Invest in yourself.
How do you map out your goals? How do you measure your success?
We had brainstorming sessions and we set target goals of what we want to do and who we want to reach out to. Of course, it doesn’t always work out but if we achieve even just one of our goals that is considered success.
Please define your personal brand.
I would describe my brand as new vintage. Innovative but still has that classic feel. I want to inspire people all over the world not to be scared to be different.
