Executive Chef

Twisted Soul Kitchen + Bar

Owner

The Catering Compnay by VanTrece

Twisted Soul Kitchen and Bar has received rave reviews online. The cozy Decatur eatery has been called “exceptional” with a “cool ambiance and the modern Southern-style food — including Southern fried chicken, shrimp and crab fritters, barbecue chicken spring rolls, and the like — has been labeled “mouthwatering” and “fantastic.” The customer service is also being lauded as “outstand-ing.”

The mastermind behind the hit restaurant is none other than chef Deborah R. VanTrece. The brilliant culinary ex-pert, who graduated at the top of her class at the Art Institute of Atlanta, has had a fascination with creating delicious meals ever since she learned how to make fluffy omelets in her seventh grade home economics class. VanTrece has since traveled throughout Europe for culinary studies, participated in Atlanta’s Centennial Olympics, and was even hired to cook for foreign dignitaries.

Now, as the executive chef and owner of Twisted Soul and The Catering Company by VanTrece, the diligent chef is being recognized for her tremendous effort in the culinary field. Twisted Soul was voted best new restaurant in Atlanta by Georgia Voice, the restaurant was named one of the best in the city by Thrillist, and VanTrece was featured twice on NBC’s program “Food Fighters” in the summer of 2015.

Although VanTrece has accomplished more than many who have her passion for food, she doesn’t credit her success to being a superwoman. Instead, she simply sees her-self as someone who works extremely hard to get what she wants.

“I don’t see myself as a powerful woman,” she says. “I do see myself taking full advantage of opportunities afforded to me to pursue my dreams. I am a focused hard worker, and if that equates to powerful, then I guess I am powerful.”
