A mother in Chicago is facing criminal charges because she wanted to force her toddler to eat. According to Chicago Sun-Times, Jazemine Jones, 18, became upset because her 2-year-old daughter, Elliana Claiborne would not eat her chicken noodles.

Jones began yelling at the toddler and eventually became violent. She punched the toddler five times in the stomach and buttocks because the baby wouldn’t eat. Jones’ boyfriend, who is not the child’s father,  was on the couch playing video games when the incident occurred. After hitting the baby, Jones left the home to buy marijuana.

When Jones returned home, she gave the baby a laxative because she had a swollen stomach and complained about stomach pain. The mother of Jones’ boyfriend saw the child and suggested that someone take her to the doctor. However, the child remained at the home.

Hours later, the child began throwing up greenish liquid while moaning. The baby was cleaned by Jones’ boyfriend’s sister, but when she put her back to bed the child was lying with her eyes open. The next morning, the baby had soiled herself and was cold and stiff with yellow liquid coming from her mouth. The child was rushed to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Jones has had a history of child abuse and once threw the child off the balcony onto concrete pavement which was covered by snow at the time. The child was temporarily removed from the home, but eventually returned.

It’s apparent that Jones has abuse issues and should have been psychologically evaluated before the chid was allowed to return to the home. The baby also had bruises and burn scars on her body.

Jones has been charged with murder and is currently being held on $1 million bond.
