Another Black teen was shot while holding a toy gun. According to reports by The Florida Times Union, the teen was shot after police responded to a woman who said someone was shooting pellets at her window and door.

When police arrived on the scene, the woman who called authorities noticed the 14-year-old boy. Police yelled at the boy to stop and the boy put his hands above his head. However, police officer Josh Livingood claimed that the boy attempted to grab the BB gun. Livingood shot at the teenager six times before striking him in the leg. Two cars were also hit by bullets, but no one else suffered injury.

The officer kicked the toy gun away and realized it was a BB gun. Although Livingood claims he didn’t know the teen had a toy gun, the woman initially told the officer and 911 operators that the boy was shooting pellets. Fortunately, the boy was transported to the hospital and did not suffer serious injuries.

But the officer’s brazen attack could have been fatal and it also put others in danger.

The teen has a history of mental illness, but he did not have a criminal record. Officer Livingood is currently on administrative leave.
