A millionaire likely got away with raping an 18-year-old girl. According to the Telegraph, the incident occurred after millionaire Ehsan Abdulaziz invited a group of young women to his luxury condo after a night of partying.
Abdulaziz, 46, met his 24-year-old girlfriend at a nightclub in London and paid over $3,000 for a table, drinks and food. Once the club closed, Abdulaziz invited the girls to his home. He claimed the girls were impressed by his $200k Aston Martin. Once they made it to his condo, he offered his 24-year-old girlfriend and her 18-year-old friend vodka. He then took his 24-year-old girlfriend to his room and had consensual sex with the woman.
Once the 24-year-old was asleep, Abdulaziz went into the living room where the 18-year-old was sleep and, at some point, the two had sexual contact. The teen told jurors that she woke up with Abdulaziz on top of her and having sexual intercourse with her against her will. She said she pushed him off of her and attempted to wake up her friend who was apparently too drunk to respond. The teen said she eventually called a taxi and then police.
However, Abdulaziz told the jurors a different account of events that evening. He claimed that he walked into his living room to get a drink when he noticed that the teenager was asleep without covers. He says that when he went over to offer her a T-shirt, he slipped and fell on top of the girl. While on top of her, he claimed that he penetrated her by accident.
When asked how his DNA entered the girl, Abdulaziz said the girl attempted to kiss him while he was on top of her and put his hands in between her legs. He said his semen was still on his hand after having consensual sex with the 24-year-old girl.
After only 30 minutes of deliberating, a jury found Abdulaziz, who is also a married man with a 10-year-old son, not guilty of rape.
He was able to concoct an absurd story and jurors somehow believed him. The outcome of this case adds to the pressures that many rape victims face when attempting to achieve justice following an attack. Due to a strenuous legal process and feeling of guilt, a lot of rape victims remain silent. Abdulaziz’s acquittal was simply another form of abuse for victims who never came forward to reveal their truth.
