Despite making one of the biggest live broadcast mistakes this year, Steve Harvey is still winning.
The talk show host has received an invitation to return as the host of the Miss Universe pageant next year, despite Sunday’s flub in which he announced the wrong winner.
On Tuesday, Dec. 22, during an interview on Jim Rome’s CBS Sports Radio show, Mark Shapiro, chief content officer at WME|IMG, said the “Family Feud” host was “very remorseful” about the mistake and was “absolutely” welcome back to host the 2016 pageant. He added that Harvey “did a great job. He was funny, he was informative, he’s high energy, he’s got a great following. … I definitely want him back, and I would hate to see him not come back. He’s going to want a shot to redeem himself.”
It turns out Shapiro isn’t the only one in Harvey’s corner. The Belize Tourism Board is doing its part to squash the controversy by inviting the comedian to host their next big pageant at the International Costa Maya Festival in August 2016.
Dear @IAMSteveHarvey, we all make mistakes. You handled yours with class. Would you host our next pageant? @CostaMayaFest #MissUniverse2015

Fortunately for Harvey, the board was impressed with the way he handled himself following the error and disagreed with all the backlash, reports Deadline. If you ask us, Harvey will be back on his game before you know it. In the meantime, what are your thoughts on him hosting next year’s festivities? Sound off in the comment section below.
