Celebrity couple we love, Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin, have teamed up to bring you The Wait. According to Good’s Instagram, the couple gets “real and transparent” in the new relationship book in order to help fans “find the love of your life and the life you love.” Sound too good to be true? Well, it worked for them.
In June, 2012, Good wed her preacher and Hollywood executive hubby, crediting their choice to be celibate before marriage as the bond that brought them closer. In fact, Good said that finding faith and celibacy also changed the way she viewed herself.
“It made our whole relationship be about us and getting to know each other,” Good said in an interview with Voice of Hope in September 2012. “There was no confusion.” Adding, “One of the things I noticed right off the bat is I had more clarity, I had more self worth, I had more peace of mind and I just was a lot more relaxed and sure of myself.”
Just a few months ago, the “Minority Report” actress continued to speak out about the importance of encouraging young women to abstain from sex before marriage, in a way that was seemingly not religious.
“I speak to young women because I think a lot of the images that are out there now teach women that they need to be a certain kind of way in order to get attention or be considered valuable. … I do encourage them to wait but I’m not preachy or religious,” Good, 34, said in a Philly.com. report. “I feel like if you have a better sense of self and you love yourself the right person will wait for you. … For my marriage … there was a solid, ‘I could spend the rest of my life with you and you could be my partner on this entire journey’ — and I respect you and I love you — and then there’s the icing on the cake.”
In other words, don’t let the pressure of society’s outlook on casual sex before marriage fool you; there are couples who wait. Meanwhile, Franklin dropped a release date for the book via Instagram: “The Wait is finally over! Me and @meagangood are so excited to announce #TheWait releasing Feb 2nd!!” Adding “Pre-Order a copy now and get access to never seen before pics of our wedding day!
