Embattled comedian Bill Cosby has now officially been charged with aggravated indecent assault it was announced Wednesday. Criminal charges were placed on Cosby over an alleged assault that took place at his Philadelphia home more than 12 years ago. The charges were filed by Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman who stated “Upon examination of all of the evidence, today we are able to seek justice on behalf of Mr. Cosby’s victim.” This will be the first criminal case against Cosby regarding claims over sexual assault by a myriad of women who came forward in 2015. The victim in this case has been identified as a former Temple University employee who claimed Cosby drugged her and sexually assaulted her in 2004. According to prosecutors Cosby urged the alleged victim to take 3 blue pills and drink wine before he positioned himself on top of her on a couch, fondled and penetrated the woman.
The case was reopened by prosecutors in 2015 after testimony given by Cosby in a civil suit was unsealed and as multiple alleged victims came forward with accusations against the once beloved comedian. The victim identified as Andrea Constand stated that Cosby missed clues that she was a lesbian and that the sex was definitely not consensual. Constead now lives in Canada and will testify under oath against Cosby sometime in 2016. The trial promises to be the biggest Hollywood celebrity case since O.J Simpson. There has been no response from Cosby’s legal team over the charges.
