The-Dream is back, ya’ll. This week, Tidal announced that they have partnered up with the Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter and producer, The-Dream – for an exclusive art film experience. According to the streaming service, the film titled Genesis, features a masterful compilation of 10 songs paired with striking visuals, giving users a peek inside of the beautiful chaos that lives within the brilliant visionary.
“This visual art project was created to give fans a glimpse of my daily thoughts. I along with my fans are lovers of music and art, but to me those two worlds are one and the same. I can never fully explain what I see and what I hear separately, it must be fused into one. For instance you take a song like “Holy Grail” when I wrote the music and the vocal for that record I had a vision that came simultaneously with that record itself. I feel cheated when songs leave my heart without the vision intended,” said The Dream of what inspired him.
He continued, “The message is for the viewer to decide, for me the message is simple, these faces or bodies represent something inside of me, a feeling. You have to look past what you see and past what you hear to even be near the essence of it.”
The prolific artist, who apparently wrote and produced Genesis within a four-month span preceding his national tour, recently screened the short film during Art Basel at the Versace Mansion for a small group of industry insiders which included Kylie Jenner, Pusha T, Justine Skye, Fabolous and long-time friend/collaborator, Tricky Stewart. However, when it came to premiering his digital love child to the world, it was Tidal that he believed would deliver and “uninterrupted and unfiltered” experience.
But that’s not it, the visual is just the beginning of what’s to come as The-Dream continues to work hard on new music (and art) for release this year. “Music IS art to me, those who try to forever separate the two is someone who wants music or art to stand still and not evolve,” he said. “I chose TIDAL as the platform because I view them as a direct connection to my fans. I trusted them to deliver what my team and I have created, uninterrupted and unfiltered.”
Fans will even have the opportunity to screen the film live and in color in select cities like Atlanta, Washington DC, Philly and more. Check out the dates below and head over to Tidal for more information
