I have declared 2016 the year of wow testimonies! I declare one of my first ones today. Today is my 50th birthday.
I’ve had an amazing life. Not because I’ve been perfect or because it’s been perfect. Absolutely not. I’m still trying to lose 25 pounds but can’t wait to eat a piece of chocolate cake. I’m saving toward a financial goal but can’t wait to buy the latest technology gadgets. Our lives are what we make them and we owe it to ourselves and God to take ownership and live happy.
Happiness is everywhere I go because I’m always happy. Even when life looks bleak, I look for the happy in it. Won’t you join me and be intentional in living happy? Here’s how you can start.
You can begin with changing your expectations. Stop expecting life to fail you and be full of “woe is me” testimonies. Instead begin to speak and declare life, joy and happiness daily. Regardless of what your truth is at the moment, you can shift it once you shift your mindset and declare it so in your heart so you can believe it in your mind. Proverbs 23:7 validates this: “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
Next, you have to inspect what you expect. Look at how you’re spending your time. Look at who you’re spending it with. The answers to these two questions alone will make it quite clear why you are or are not living happy. Be honest with yourself and reflect back on 2015. Many of your friends already proved to you their truths and you can count the cost of what wasting your time on them and being unfocused cost you.
As you start this new year focused on living happy and birthing #wowtestimonies, I want to leave you with these two powerful Scriptures and takeaways:
Lamentations 3:22-23: “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Deuteronomy 7:9: “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.”
God is so compassionate toward us, he forgives us daily and extends new levels of mercy to us daily. Just when you thought God abandoned you, he is yet faithful (to those who are sorry) and will give you another, and another, and another and another … chance.
God is faithful and he keeps covenant (relationship) with those who love him and honor his commandments.
Now, it’s your turn. Do your part to live happy and have a life full of new mercies. Will you take him up on his offer?
