Last week, The She Is Project hosted their third annual business social, New Year Do You. Held in the heart of midtown Detroit, Michigan at the chic clothing store Détroit Is The New Black, New Year Do You was a phenomenal success. An abundance of talent tempered by moxie filled the room with excited energy as guests mingled and networked, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. Light refreshments of cupcakes, popcorn, and punch kept the foodies satisfied as the evening progressed.
This year’s event focused on the essential elevator pitch. Five randomly selected female entrepreneurs were given 15 seconds to pitch their respective businesses. The She Is Project Founder Carlotta Tutt Holloway along with Naturalicious Founder/CEO Gwen Jimmere gave each of the emerging entrepreneurs feedback on their pitches along with advice on how to go to the next level. Tutt-Holloway and Jimmere instilled inspiration as they dropped priceless pearls of wisdom. The ladies were later given signature Détroit Is The New Black canvas bags filled with a Ford Breast Cancer scarf and an Inforum pen and notepad. The night ended with a champagne toast to new endeavors for the new year and an informal pitch session from the remaining guests.
The She Is Project, a program of True Root Marketing, is a social and experiential movement that celebrates and educates entrepreneurial women who seek motivation and education to help develop or expand their businesses. The movement consists of various social, digital, and experiential elements that offer these women the opportunity to receive expert education, motivation and business collaboration opportunities.
The anticipation and excitement for next year’s New You Do You event is building already.
