A horrific hostage ordeal has ended for one New York man after his girlfriend almost tortured him to death earlier this week. Police say Carlton Adams, 52, was held hostage by his live-in girlfriend Myeshia Hawkins-Taylor, 41, for 36 hours. According to her now deleted Facebook page, she met her older lover while in substance abuse rehab. They had been living together since August 2015. But there were problems and Adams was accused of being unfaithful. A verbal argument took place and Hawkins-Taylor demanded money because of his affairs. At some point, Adams left the room and went to sleep.
While Adams slept, Hawkins-Taylor poured burning hot oil over his face and arms and then began stabbing and cutting him with a kitchen knife. The cuts to his stomach were so bad, court documents state his intestines were protruding. The demented woman kept him locked in a bedroom while he pleaded for help. At some point she thought her boyfriend was going to die from his injuries and she called 911. Emergency personnel found Adams bloody and barely conscious and he was transported to the Harlem Hospital Burn Unit.
Hawkins-Taylor was arrested and placed under psychiatric care for her demented actions. Yesterday, she was arraigned via video from a hospital bed and has been charged with assault, attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment. A Manhattan Criminal Court judge ordered her held without bail.
