NeNe Leakes has always been the queen diva of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and that star quality has usually transferred well in other avenues of Hollywood as she’s branched out from reality TV. However, rumor has it that Leakes’ diva attitude is now causing problems on the set of the E! series “Fashion Police.”
As previously reported, Leakes joined the cast of “Fashion Police,” alongside Margaret Cho, after Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin both left the show abruptly last year, following a months-long hiatus after the shocking death of the show’s original star, Joan Rivers. The current lineup is Leakes, Cho, Melissa Rivers, Giuliana Rancic, and Brad Goreski.
According to media reports, sources say that there’s a “huge power struggle going on” between Leakes and the rest of cast and it’s all thanks to the ratings and Leakes’ ego.
The sources say that the numbers are in for the latest episodes of the show and “Fashion Police” is now averaging around one million viewers per episode. The ratings numbers are a big win for the series as the report reveals that the show has garnered a 26 percent increase in ratings in 2016.
However, the new success has created an alleged dilemma for the cast. While lots of viewers are now turning in, sources say that most of the cast is turned off by Leakes’ attitude. Sources say that Leakes is especially proud of the ratings increase and now believes that the ratings boost is the reason that she should be regarded as the show’s new star.
“NeNe has really just been trying to steal the spotlight lately and because she has such a strong personality, it is making filming really difficult,” said the source.
“It has gotten to the point that Melissa has had to delegate increments of time that limit when each panelist is allowed to speak.” the source added.
The sources also addressed rumors that Rancic, whose position on the show came into question when she made racially-charged comments about Zendaya’s dreadlocks last year, may be in danger of losing her job still. However, they say that Rancic isn’t going anywhere, but she will have to learn to deal with Leakes.
“Giuliana has been there since the beginning and Melissa actually told her recently that she has nothing to worry about right now. But that they really need to figure out how she can become more comfortable in NeNe and Margaret’s presence,” the source said.
Well, considering how much drama has occurred between the “Fashion Police” cast over the past year, we can’t say we’d be surprised if there is behind-the-scenes beef with the cast. And we’ll be paying attention to see what Leakes, who is typically an open book, has to say about the drama rumors.
