Judge Sri Srinivasan was appointed by President Obama to his position in 2013. He worked previously in the U.S. Justice Department under President George W. Bush and also served as solicitor general arguing Supreme Court cases in support of affirmative action and against restrictive Voter ID laws. In 2000, Srinivasan worked on Al Gore’s legal team in the infamous Supreme Court case of Bush v. Gore. He was confirmed by unanimous vote in the US Senate for his current position as a judge. If appointed to the court Srinivasan would be the first Indian-American to hold the office.
