“A Night of Acoustic Worship” was held at the Youth Center belonging to the International Gospel Center in Ecorse, MI. This event was presented by LaToya Turrentine-Brown and Favor’s Voice and hosted by Tiffanie Turrentine of Encourage Movement and Tyrone Judah of Judah Arts. Along with the musical talents of LaToya Turrentine-Brown and Favor’s Voice, this night also featured Detroit’s own Jessica Clements, Darius James, and Gregory R. Davis.

“A Night of Acoustic Worship” was inspired by a vision that LaToya had. The purpose of this event was to present to the world something different outside of the “church” scene. LaToya stated that she was tired of doing the same things, singing the same things, and hearing the same things, so she created a night that would expose a new feel, sound, and atmosphere. The energy in the room was astounding and there was not a moment where people were not up on their feet. The group sang their hearts out as they received multiple standing ovations. This wasn’t just an event, but you could call it an experience. Hearts were changed as you saw knees kneeling, hands raised, and tears flowing. This event was completely sold out and left only standing room.

Favor’s Voice is made up of a group of singers, musicians and entrepreneurs under the leadership of singer, song writer LaToya M. Turrentine-Brown. Founded in 2009, this team joined forces in an effort to bring unity amongst the community, local artists and musicians, and create a platform for personal empowerment through music and ministry.

With the release of their debut album, I Am Favor’s Voice, in July 2011, this group has chosen to be the voice of “favor” to this generation. Their mission is to spread the benefits of Christ’s love to the hurt and broken. Within the first year of the album’s release, this group has received two awards, donated to many charities, hosted community events, and created a platform for other up and coming artists in the Metro Detroit area.

“At this present time, we are working on music and just being obedient to God. We agree that it’s not always about becoming famous, but truly hearing from God and getting that word out to the people and that’s the goal,” said Turrentine-Brown.

Many people place their music in a specific genre, but LaToya does not put her music into a particular category. She says she simply does music that comes from the heart to reach the heart: “I’m not an artist. I never wanted to be. I’m a minister that sings.”

Favor’s Voice has shared the stage with such names as Kierra “Ki Ki” Sheard and BRL, Tim Bowman & Tim Bowman Jr, Evelyn Turrentine-Agee, Pastor Marvin Sapp, Micah Stampley, Pastor Tim Rogers and The Fellas, The Canton Spirituals, Lisa Page Brooks, Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark Cole, and Ernest Pugh, just to name a few. These dynamic young people are on a mission, and they believe that with God all things are possible.
