Xavier Peoples, the co-owner of M Bar in Atlanta, Georgia, and ONE Musicfest creator Jason “J.” Carter joined forces to hold #PoliticsAfterDark, a weekly gathering to connect influential individuals in Atlanta with community leaders to birth projects relating to social progression. This week at M Bar, the focus was on the Municipal Option Sales Tax Campaign (M.O.S.T.)
The event attracted hundreds of attendees who listened to information regarding the campaign and engaged in discussions about the important topic. The M.O.S.T. campaign is spearheaded by Mayor Kasim Read and asks that a sale tax of 1 cent be added to the majority of goods purchased in Atlanta in order to upgrade water and sewage systems. Reed is asking that residents vote “yes” on the sales tax on Tuesday, March 1.
