Big Lurch
By far one of the most gruesome crimes ever associated with rap music is the April 2002 murder of 21-year-old Tynisha Ysais by fledgling rapper Big Lurch.
Lurch, who had worked with the likes of E-40, Mystikal, and Too Short, was convicted of killing Ysais, his roommate at the time, while high on PCP. The rapper, born Antron Singleton, is said to have then cut open Ysais’ chest and removed her lungs. Teeth marks were also found on her face and chest.
Police later found Lurch roaming the neighborhood and howling at the sky while completely naked and covered in blood. Doctors later found pieces of the victim’s flesh in his stomach.
During trial, Lurch claimed to have no memory of the incident and plead not guilty by reason of insanity. His insanity plea was contested and he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
