Kanye West may be one of the biggest names in hip-hop with a career that has stood the test of time, but there’s no denying that the Kanye of today isn’t the same old Kanye of yesterday. And while West is still garnering acclaim from critics over his music, some fans think he’s lost his creative appeal and innovation. One fan in particular who feels that way is veteran rapper DJ Quik, who recently blasted West’s new The Life of Pablo album.

As fans know, the rollout for West’s The Life of Pablo was anything but steady and normal when it was a TIDAL exclusive. The rapper refused to issue physical copies of the album and he has altered the record multiple times and is still tinkering with it.

Well, West Coast legend DJ Quik recently spoke about the state of hip-hop music in a new interview and he blasted West’s for having such a strange album release.

“Who does an EP anymore? Who puts out records anymore? Kanye[‘s] so scared he don’t know what to do with the f—— Life of Pablo. Let’s just keep this s— all the way f—— 100!” Quik said.

Quik was then asked what he thinks of West’s album and he panned it, saying that it’s far from being West’s best work.

“You think it’s a good album? Is it better than 808 & Heartbreak? Is it better than the experimental record that was just Jesus? Do you think it deserves all the hype, though? Is this the kind of album that you would really wanna go buy to listen to and go home and brag about to everybody?” Quik asked, to which the radio host responded “no” and explained that the album is only getting hype because West made it.

Quik then took aim at both West and his famous wife, Kim Kardashian, saying that West lost his edge and creativity ever since he got together with the reality star.

“So his celebrity supersedes his talent right now? Yes,” he says in response. “C’mon, he’s a Kardashian now, what the f—? What he gonna do to me? Beat me up? It’s Kanye. This is a challenge, this ain’t a diss, it’s just a challenge. Make your best music. Because fans aren’t stupid.”

When the radio host said, “Maybe his head’s not all the way in the music, right now.” Quick replied, “Maybe his heads all the way up in Kim Kardashian’s vagina. What the f—?! Vag-y Vadashian, the new p—-.”

Well, we doubt that West is going to listen to anything Quik has to say as he works on his LOP follow-up, Turbo Grafx 16, which is set to be released later this year.

But what do you think of Quik’s comments about Life of Pablo? Let us know in the comments.
